Bedding & Pouring

Finished shells are bedded in un-bonded silica sand. The bedding boxes have a plenum for application of vacuum during pouring.
Bedding boxes may be moved to pouring station/area via overhead crane, forklift, track or automated roller conveyor.


Shells are poured while vacuum is applied. The vacuum supports the thin shell and aspirates molten metal through the shell wall to produce intricate detail.

The process works very well with all grades of steel; however, better quality is attained with certain grades.
